The works comprised the installation of 12,500m2 of a Geosynthetic capping layer to an operation landfill site to allow the site to be progressively restored
The capping layers comprised 300mm regulating layer excavated from on-site stockpiles. This was overlain by a 1mm thick welded Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) geomembrane liner, a Geosynthetic Drainage Layer (GDL) and 1m thickness of restoration soils.
Sampling and testing of the permanent works materials was a pre-requisite for regulatory sign off of the completed works.
Haul distances were on average greater than 700m and the project was completed on time despite having to commence the works in Q3 of 2015.
